Homemade Italian Dressing
Salad dressings are super easy to make at home and don’t contain any of the artificial ingredients or sugars that they put in the ones you buy at the store. For the most part in our house we only use two salad dressings, Italian and ranch. Yes, I know, store bought ranch is probably more unhealthy than the Italian, but we have to tackle one thing at a time. We like to use Italian for green salads, pasta salad and marinating meat.
Most of the Italian salad dressing recipes I could find online had a bunch of different wine vinegars in them and I just wanted something simple, so I made my own recipe. This recipe just uses apple cider vinegar, because it is a common pantry staple, instead of all the fancy vinegars that, at least I, don’t have in my house.
What You Need
- A jar with a lid. I use a pint mason jar with a reusable mason jar lid.
- olive oil
- apple cider vinegar
- lemon or lime juice
- dried oregano
- dried basil
- parsley
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- crushed red pepper
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
- First gather all the ingredients together, the jar and a small spoon or whisk to mix it all together with.
- Then measure all the liquid ingredients into the jar
- Measure the spices into a bowl and mix them thoroughly

4. Then add the spices to the jar with the liquid ingredients
5. Next stir the everything all together and put the lid on
6. You can use this right away, but its best if sits for a couple days first to let all the flavors mix together.

Notes
- If you have a jar with a leak proof lid you can just put all the ingredients in the jar and shake it up.
- You will have to stir or shake this dressing before serving because the oil will separate from the other ingredients.
How To Store Homemade Italian Dressing
You can store this on the counter at room temperature or in the fridge. I store mine on the counter, because all the ingredients in it are ones I store on the counter, however, I know a lot of people keep lemon juice in the fridge, so if you feel better keeping it in the fridge then just keep it in the fridge.
