Simple baked pork chops that stay moist and tender. And the best part is you can just put everything in the pan and throw it in the oven.

Pork is really good, especially the parts like bacon, ham, or ribs, but some parts aren’t quite that good. Neither my husband nor I were a fan of pork chops growing up because it seemed like they were always dry and tough. Since we have a pig raised for us every year we always have plenty of pork chops. So I had to come up with a way to cook them so that we enjoyed them.
How To Make Moist Pork Chops
It wasn’t that hard to get the pork chops moist once I figured out that they needed to be baked at a higher temperature. Most recipes tell you to bake them at 350, but most recipes turn out dry. So by baking them at a higher temperature and doing a couple of other things, the pork chops come out moist and are much more enjoyable.
What You Need:
- Pork chops – I use the pork chops from our homegrown pig, but the ones from the store work too. You may find that the ones from the store cook for less time though.
- Olive oil – To put on the pork chops to help retain moisture.
- Lemon juice – Adds a little flavor and moisture.
- Onions – White onions from the store work fine.
- Apples – Granny Smith is my go-to for this recipe. They add a little bit of tartness and flavor.
- Garlic – I use minced garlic, but any kind would work. You could use garlic powder if you didn’t have garlic too.
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cinnamon – This is optional, but it adds a lot of flavor.
How To Make Simple Baked Pork Chops
- First, preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Then get a pan and spray it with olive oil.
- Get the pork chops from their package and place them on the tray.

- Rub the top of the pork chops with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Next, cut up the onions and apples into thin slices. If you make them too thick they will take a long time to bake in the oven.
- Cover the pork chops in the apples and onions.

- Sprinkle the lemon juice and garlic over the apples and onions.
- Then sprinkle the top with cinnamon (if you are using it) and place in the oven.

- Bake pork chops at 400 F for about 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145 F. These pork chops are about an inch and a quarter thick, if yours are thinner they will take less time to bake.
- Lastly, stir the apples and onions about halfway through and spoon the juices from the bottom of the pan over top of the chops.
- Serve and enjoy!
